SRI RAMACHANDRARAJU comes from a humble agricultural family of West Godavari District.
He was born (in the year 22-07-1934) at Polamuru village of West Godavari District).
He had his elementary education in Srikakulam District as his parents have migrated to Srikakulam District in pursuit of agricultural cultivation.
RAMACHANDRARAJU after completing his High school and Intermediate classes joined Karnataka University in 1954 and studied Law in Belgaum College.
He took is Law Degree in 1958 and took up Law practice in Srikakulam District. As Law practice was not remunerative in those days (during the Zamindari Abolition days), he gave up Law practice and took up a job at Vijayawada in 1963 in a Pharmaceutical Company on monthly salary of Rs.175/-.
As the salary was low, he decided to start his own Pharmaceutical Company and he shifted to Hyderabad in 1965 and with the help of few friends, he started KIGO Pharma, a Pharmaceutical Company manufacturing few fast moving drugs.
In two years time, he gave away the Pharmaceutical Company to his friends and started his own concern RECON Laboratories in 1967.
When RECON Laboratories was picking up, NFCL offered to dispose Nuclear Waste to RECON Laboratories if it is useful to them.
Mr. RAMACHANDRARAJU conducted experiments on the waste and found that Sodium Nitrate and Potassium Nitrate can be extracted from the waste.
He has developed in-house equipment and established a Factory to manufacture Sodium Nitrate and Potassium Nitrate on a Commercial basis. He named the Factory as Deccan Nitrates and with the help of few well wishers and Financial Institutions, he established himself as successful Small Scale industrialist.
His sons Mr.Ravi and Mr.Madhu where helping him in running the industry.
In 1978 when Andhra Pradesh Government invited Private participation for establishing Mini Cement Plants, Mr.Ramachandraraju ventured to enter Cement industry.
All his well wishers and friends from financial institutions have cautioned him to think twice before venturing into such an industry which is totally new to him.
With great self confidence Mr.Ramachandraraju pursued and got allotment of a Mini Cement Plant at Mattapalli on the banks of River Krishna.
In those days there was no proper road to Mattapalli. With great difficulty and struggle Mr.Ramachandraraju could put up the Factory and started Cement production successfully in 1983.
Nagarjuna Cement produced in the Factory had very good strength and quality and was accepted as one of the First Rate Brands.
The Company was able to pass on dividends to Co-Promoters and Shareholders much more than the investment they made within a period of three years and earned tremendous goodwill.
The Capacity of the Cement Factory was increased from 200 TPD to 650 TPD by stages.
Mr.Ramachandraraju wanted to diversify his activity to other Building materials with Corporate objectives of “Alternate and better Building materials with world class technology”.
In pursuit of this he visited number of countries in Europe during 1988 – 99 and was successful in obtaining Technical collaboration from Bison Werke of Germany for manufacture of Cement Bonded Particle Boards, Secco Spa of Italy for manufacture of Pre Painted Steel Windows, Doors and Partitions etc., and ICP Sweden for making Alltek Spray Plasters, Paints for decorating the Buildings.
The Boards plant was put up by NCL Industries Limited while Seccolar and Alltek plants were put up as separate sister concerns by like minded promoters.
Regional Offices as many as 12 were established across the country for marketing products of NCL Group Companies.
The journey of Mr.Ramachandraraju as Industrialist was not a Bed of Roses for him, he had to face lot of hardships and crisis before he could come out successful.
Thus with great self confidence, integrity and hard work Mr.Ramachandraraju was able to steer the Company as one of the leading Companies in the country manufacturing world class building materials.
Mini Cement Plant which was doing hardly 10 crores Annual turnover today has reached almost 500 crores.
The Company has been able to give employment directly and indirectly for more than 10,000 families.
The Prefab Shelters introduced in the country have become very popular and are earning remarkable profits to the Company.
After getting all Companies into profits, Mr.Ramachandraraju has retired in January 2003 leaving the administration to his sons Mr.Ravi and Mr.Madhu.
Fortunately Mr.Ravi and Mr.Madhu have the same Zeal and developed the Company to the present stage.
After retirement Mr.Ramachandraraju confined himself to Agriculture and most of his time he was spending in his Farm house.
It was unfortunate that Mr.Ramachandraraju after few days of hospitalization left all of us in grief breathing his last on 28.06.2008.
