Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies was established by Govt. of A.P. in the year 2008. Three fully residential IIITs were proposed under the University to cater to the educational needs of the gifted rural youth.
Rajiv Gandhi University wanted to induct over 6000 students from different parts of the state and about 600 staff to start the courses in 2008 itself at three different centers in the state.
One at Idupulapayala in Kadapa district, being the head quarters of the University. The other at Basara in Adilabad District and the third at Nuzvid in Krishna District.
As permanent buildings were not ready, the university wanted to go in for instant housing in all the 3 centers to start the courses as scheduled.
The instant housing include Air Conditioned class rooms, Libraries, Hostels for Boys, Girls and Mentors and other staff, Dining halls, modern kitchens to cater to over 2000 students and staff, toilets, water supply, electrification etc. in world class standards in each centre.
